Animation Short: Aground
The Boat falling in water effect I did for animation student collaborative project: Aground.
It involves FLIP Fluids simulation and Rigid Body Dynamic simulation. I first simulated the RBD part, after getting the satisfying result, I cached them out as deforming geometry, so later on I can used them as passive RBD object rather than active RBD object. Active RBD object is hard to manage interactive with FLIP Fluids simulation, and unpredictable when changing the particle separation of the FLIP Fluids.
All assets are imported from Maya as obj into Houdini. Shaded and rendered with Mantra. The background is matte painting from the Animation Team.
